Kansas has a motto: ad astra per aspera which means 'to the stars through difficulties.'

I think about our State motto a lot lately -- the events of the past few weeks due to Covid-19 have been unprecedented in modern times. Who would have thought a stay-at-home order would have been issued by our Governor to help suppress the novel coronavirus? Who would have thought that the House and the Senate would be forced to an early first adjournment? And what about schools? No more classes (everything is on-line), track practice (and all other spring sports), cheerleading tryouts, prom, and graduation. All of these lost moments are secondary to the health crisis we all face. Though we know this, it's still hard to believe. And sad to say goodbye.

So, onward Kansas -- 'to the stars through difficulties.' We can. We will. God bless Kansas and the USA.
